Bandida Blanco- Our Signature Mezcal

Bandida Blanco Ultra Premium Artesanal is eleven-year-aged Mezcal laid down in ancient volcanic rock, double distilled in stone ovens in Santiago Matatlán, Oaxaca. Handcrafted in a fully organic process without machines or electricity, by one individual- our fourth-generation Maestro Mezcalero.

Bandida Blanco was our first expression, and is still to this day, one of our favourite Mezcals in the world.

So why Bandida Blanco?

Firstly, we aimed for a slightly higher strength ABV with exceptional smoothness- it takes more skill to create a mezcal that’s both strong (43%+) and smooth.

Why does Bandida taste smooth even when it's distilled at a higher percentage?

All Artesanal Mezcal should be additive free, which is a necessity in today's world of mass-produced spirits, therefore to truly make one of the world's best quality spirits, we employ an incredibly slow production process.

In addition to being additive-free, we take our stance on purity, much, much further.  We do not use pesticides on our agave plants and we do not use diffusers, or anything for that matter, to speed up the process of making Bandida.

Here we discuss; How Bandida Mezcal is one of the last truly great hand-crafted spirits covering Wild fermentation, and how our Palenque operates by hand without the use of machines or electricity.  Bandida Mezcal contains just two ingredients;

  •  - The finest agave plants.
  •  - Spring water from Nueve Puntas local mountains

If you care to take a look inside our production process, in this video we walk around our Palenque so you can see how to create one of the best Mezcals in the world

For this reason we recommend that Bandida Blanco is enjoyed neat- to fully appreciate all of the subtle tasting notes.  Bandida Blanco Mezcal agaves take 11 years to mature, and importantly the rest of the production process of Mezcal is incredibly slow and requires expertise passed down through generations, and in fact, this is one of the reasons why Mezcal carries a slightly heavier price tag than Tequila.

And a small side note here, we never want to claim to be "the best Mezcal" in the world, nobody can truly make that claim- there are incredible artisans and Maestro Mezcaleros all over Mexico, and we invite you to try all different varieties and brands- this is a community, not a competition.  We have tried over 1,000 different Mezcals and there are incredible Mezcals, Palenques, families and Mezcaleros making some of the finest quality spirits available today.

Bandida Mezcal stands as one of only a handful of Mezcal brands to feature a ceramic bottle. This exclusive choice of earthenware symbolises the deep connection to the earth where our mezcal is grown.

Inside, the bottle is lined with premium glass, ensuring our mezcal is protected from any external temperature changes while preserving its exceptional quality.

We employ a meticulous triple-firing process, bringing the ceramic to extra-high temperatures for durability, and we elevate its beauty with real gold leaf incorporated into the Bandida Mayahuel design on the base of the bottle.

Every Bandida lid is made of heavy-duty metal, staying away from the use of plastics.

The shape of the Bandida decanter draws inspiration from the agave plant’s graceful leaves, with a unique design that also reflects the form of the Quiote, the towering flower stalk of the agave. This blend of natural form and artistry further distinguishes Bandida as a true luxury mezcal.

So we have made an appealing looking bottle to stand out and draw people into our world of Mezcal- but the real beauty is within.  We can talk about awards, but the real results come from the feedback of the bar servers, the spirits sommeliers, the Mezcalero's we have met around the world and their feedback is what has made Bandida Blanco our most successful expression of Mezcal.

Mezcal still remains a niche product, but with a strong and loyal following- for us it's about introducing the world to high quality Mezcal and setting the bar high.
